10 Things I Want to Do in Scotland

In this lead up to my travel to Scotland I compiled a list of ten things I would like to do while in Scotland, in particular the cities of Glasgow/Edinburgh and the Isle of Skye. Here they are!

1. Duart Castle: While we won't be visiting this island and castle during our travel, it is a place that I would like to go because it has family significance for me. My mom's side of the family has Scottish roots and the Clan Maclean who were the former inhabitants of this castle are related to us.

2. The Glasgow City Chambers: After having studied the politics of Great Britain I would love to see the city chambres! Not only are the visual and architecutally beautiful but I find the politics interesting as well!

3. The National Piping Centre (Glasgow) A bit stereotypical but something I want to do nonetheless. Who doesn't want to learn more about babpipes? :)

4. Merchant City (Glasgow): Right in Glasgow, the Merchant City is full of things to do! Theatre, markets, film, concerta, tours, and more. I feel like it's a place where I definitely won't be bored!

5. The Scottish Whiskey Experience (Edinburgh): Ok. So I will admit that thus far I still really hate Whiskey. BUT that won't stop me from spending 20 pounds to spend my day revolver around whiskey! Here I can learn how whiskey is made, about the different types and flavors, and most importantly drink it!
Now THAT'S a lot of Whiskey! Cheers!

6. Eilean Donan Castle (Syke): I love castles so might as well visit one on the beautiful Isle of Skye! It's the most photographed castle in the country and won a "Best Historic Attraction/Castle in Scotland" award in 2007! And it was featured in one of my favorite chick flicks "Made of Honor" (as well as many other films).

7. Tour of the Scottish Parliament: Showing my affinity for politics once again, I found out there are FREE tours of the Scottish Parliament. Everyone likes free stuff, and everyone loves British politics (well maybe no everyone but I sure do like watching the House of Commons for the entertainment value!) Plus it's a pretty bad-ass building in my opinion. Super modern!

8. Edinburgh Castle: Another castle with tons of history. One of Edinburgh's most popular attractions.
It was the home of royalty, army headquarters, and an ancient stronghold.

9. The Necropolis (Glasgow): Glasgow's "Victorian city of the dead." A cemetery with many famous names and great views of the city.

10. National Museum of Scotland: All of Scotland in one place. All of Scotland's history, science, art, culture, nature, etc…all in one place.
